Vino Bello welcomes Winemakers Tim Sorenson & Jim Musielwicz for a special double-tasting!

SodoVino Winery is a small boutique SODO winery and a member of the 85 Atlantic Artisian Vinters located in the shadow of Seattle’s Safeco Field. Owners Jim and Sylvia Musielewicz create limited productions of Rhone varietal wines from some of the finest vineyards in Washington State.

2006 SodoVino Red

A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Malbec, and 6% Syrah.

Rich, ripe Black cherries, leather, black pepper, and lead pencil aromas give way to a palate of black fruit, spice, vanilla with a pleasant mouth feel and  firm tannins. Aged in barrel for 16 months, the Cabernet in half new French and half new American oak; the Malbec and Syrah in neutral oak.

2006 Sylvia James Lewis Vineyard Syrah

Blackberries, chocolate and vanilla on the nose with a smooth full mouth feel.  Flavors of black fruit and pepper and finishing with firm tannins. Aged in neutral oak for 16 months and new American oak for 2 months.

2007 Sylvia James Rosebud Ranch Viognier

Grapefruit, pineapple aromas, with a full mouth feel and orange blossom and cream on the palate with a touch of sweetness and a medium finish.

Fall Line Winery is an artisanal producer of elegantly-styled wines. Specializing in blends of Bordeaux varietals, Fall Line crafts its wines using fruit from some of the most prized vineyard sites in Washington State.

2006 Aldercreek Vineyard Red Blend

It exhibits an expressive bouquet of cedar, tobacco, clove, cinnamon, allspice, red cherry and blackberry. The tannins are light and the wine has elegance along with very good depth and a pure finish. It merits 2-3 years of additional cellaring and should drink well through 2020.

2006 Artz Vineyard Red Blend

Purple colored with aromas of paine grillé, pencil lead, spice box, and black fruits, it is a bit tighter than the 2005. It offers plenty of spicy black fruit flavors, good depth and balance, and a lengthy finish. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it through 2020.

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

The nose offers up notes of vanilla bean, coconut, black currants, and blackberry liqueur. Layered and ripe, bordering on opulent, it nicely conceals enough tannin to carry the wine through another 4-5 years of evolution. This concentrated, lengthy effort should attain its peak by 2013 and remain at that level through 2026.

Are you planning to attend this weekend’s tasting?

Cheers,

Michele, Chrissa & Jason
