Summer will sizzle with diversions both quirky and wonderful, from jugglers to a sausage-eating contest, during the Olde Burien Block Party on Saturday, July 14.

Among the amusements planned from noon to midnight are performers of every sort, live music, the Bubble Man, a variety of contests, irresistible store specials and a $500 Olde Burien shopping spree.

New this year for the younger set are inflatable rides, sponsored by Burien Honda.

Also on the entertainment lineup for the first time are a karaoke contest on the event’s main stage and an olive-tossing contest for a $10,000 prize at the Mark Restaurant & Bar.

The party heats up from the moment it opens as face painters, musicians, jugglers and fortunetellers take over Southwest 152nd Street, which will close to vehicular traffic in Olde Burien.

Slated for the event’s main stage are:

1 p.m. - The Evin Rudes.

2 p.m. - The Bubble Man.

4 p.m. - Jones Family Fortune.

5 p.m. - The Daddios.

6:30 p.m. - Sausage-Eating and Ice Cream-Eating Contests followed by family prize drawing.

7 p.m. - The Pink Torpedos.

8:30 p.m. - Grand prize drawing for a $500 Olde Burien shopping spree, followed by the Inboard-Outboards.

9 p.m. - Live karaoke contest (Burien Idol) with the Inboard-Outboards. Live music until 11 p.m.
